NORWAY - 7 DAY

7 day Northbound (Bergen - Kirkenes)

On the northbound voyage from Bergen to Kirkenes, you will visit some of the world’s most beautiful fjords, cross the Arctic Circle and sail around the North Cape plateau, at the very top of Europe, during the daytime.

Every single nautical mile along the coastal cruise from Bergen to Kirkenes and back is filled with new experiences. The mountains are immutable, but the weather and the light change constantly, transforming the colours and appearance of the landscape. Here, you will encounter the soft grey of the rain, the crackling green of the Northern Lights or the golden glow of the midnight sun. Along the coast, tiny fishing villages shelter from the fierce Atlantic breakers, while larger coastal towns nestle in the narrow space between wild mountains and the seashore.

*Geiranger fjord will be visited 01.06–31.08.
*Hjørundfjorden will be visited 01.09-31.10.

We travel by bus to the charter boat which takes us across the fjord. The bus will wait and take us to Saltstraumen and back to the ship.

Three powerful facets of the natural world are waiting on this excursion.

At the top of the mountains there is always snow and big and small glaciers, the largest of which is Svartisen, northern Scandinavia's largest glacier. The Svartisen (Black Ice) Glacier got its name not because it is so black, but because it is so blue! The deep blue colour of the ice contrasts with the fresh white snow drifts, and so the ice appears black.

With the Glacier stretching towards the water, below we stop at a cafe where you can taste the Norwegian speciality, lefser, while enjoying a wonderful view to the glacial landscape.
