ITINERARY

Day 1 Reykjavík
Iceland’s capital offers a rich urban life and is close to glaciers, waterfalls, geysers
and mountains. Explore this fascinating Arctic city before embarkation.

Day 2 Stykkishólmur (Full day)
Explore the town or join optional excursions to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula’s Lóndrangar cliffs or the black sand beaches of Djúpalónssandur.

Day 3 Patreksfjördur (Full day)
A charming settlement of around 660 inhabitants, this village is set on a picturesque fjord with great hiking opportunities.

Day 4 Exploration Day
Our experienced captain and Expedition Team will plan a day exploring the stunning fjords of northwest Iceland.

Day 5 Djupavik (Full day)
We discover this remote former settlement in stunning natural surroundings.

Herring factory visit and leisurely hike

Day 6 Akureyri (Full day)
Close to renowned natural treasures such as Lake Mývatn and Goðafoss waterfall, Akureyri hosts fine botanical gardens and a lively cultural scene.

Town walk and Botanical Garden visit

Day 7 Grímsey Island & Húsavík (Full day)
The Arctic Circle cuts across this scenic island and we hope to have the chance to step across that line. In the afternoon, we sail to Húsavík.

Day 8 Húsavík & Langanes Peninsula
Húsavík is renowned for its whale watching and Whale Museum. In the evening we will sail past the scenic Laganes Peninsula.

Day 9 Bakkagerði (Full day)
Bakkagerði is known for its natural beauty and is considered ‘the land of the elves’. Puffin colonies abound in the local fjord, making this a popular place for birdwatching.

Day 10 Heimaey (Full day)
The ‘Home Island’ boasts a harbour with a very narrow entrance, caused by a volcanic eruption and steep cliffs that are a habitat for countless birds, including the charming puffin.

Day 11 Reykjavík
Our voyage of discovery and adventure ends in the Icelandic capital. If you have time, we recommend a few extra days with our PostProgramme to explore the fascinating surroundings.
