We sail across the Denmark Strait. Guests can enjoy lectures by the Expedition Team in the Science Center and prepare for the upcoming adventure.

Day 4 Prince Christian Sound Region, Greenland

Prince Christian Sound separates Greenland from the Cape Farewell archipelago. If conditions allow, we will sail through this narrow channel and enjoy the spectacular scenery. The sound is around 60 miles long and very narrow. If the channel is blocked with ice, we will sail around Nunap Isua (Cape Farewell).

Day 5 Kvanefjord

Kvanefjord is a 30-mile-long fjord on the west coast of Greenland. We will spend the day here exploring the amazing landscape.
 Temperature range in August: 35 – 45 °F
 Optional activities may include:
·       Kayaking
·       Guided hikes

Day 6 Nuuk, Greenland

Nuuk is the political and social center of Greenland and the oldest town in the country, founded in 1728. It is situated at the mouth of one of most spectacular fjord systems in the world.
Guests will visit the National Museum of Greenland. Discover exhibitions covering Greenland’s history during the past 4,500 years – from the first Arctic Stone Age cultures to the Norse settlements, the arrival of the Thule culture and the gradual transition to modern day Greenland.
Temperature range in August: 35 – 45 °F

Day 7 Sisimiut, Greenland

Guests come ashore and explore the colorful town. They can visit the small museum, hike in the hills and shop for local handicrafts. In addition, enjoy a traditional kayaking demonstration and the Sisimiut museum which features local cultural history and exhibits different periods of the city’s history and its surroundings.
Temperature range in August: 41 – 50 °F

Day 8 Ilulissat, Greenland

Visit this UNESCO World Heritage site. The fjord is full of icebergs originating from the nearby Jakobshavn Glacier, one of the world’s most productive.
Temperature range in August: 32 – 41 °F

Day 9 At sea – Crossing the Davis Strait

During the crossing we will prepare guests for the upcoming adventure.

Day 10 East Coast of Baffin Island

We sail into the Sam Ford Fjord, set on the east coast of Baffin Island. The fjord is known for its glaciers and granite cliffs rising steeply from the shores to heights up to 5000 feet above sea level.

Our goal is to head into the heart of the Northwest Passage on this epic route. Depending on conditions, we hope to explore these historic sights: Pond Inlet, Dundas Harbour, Radstock Bay, Beechey Island, Fort Ross and Gjøa Haven. Throughout the journey, we will be sailing in amazing straits with unique nature and hopefully enough ice to be on the constant look out for wildlife.
Temperature range in August: 25 – 40°F

Optional activities may include:
·       Kayaking
·       Small boat cruises
·       Guided hikes

Day 18 Cambridge Bay – Disembarkation & flight

In Inuinnaqtun, Cambridge Bay is called ‘Iqaluktuuttiaq‘, meaning a ‘good fishing place’ for the giant char that is caught nearby. Local wildlife is abundant: seals, geese, muskoxen and caribou. This is where our expedition ends, and you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Edmonton. After arrival in Edmonton transfer from the airport to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 19 Explore Edmonton

Enjoy the city of Edmonton before your flight home or extend your stay with our optional Post-programmes to learn more about this city and surrounding by visiting the Elk Island National Park.
